Carol Channing first sang the role of Dolly Levi on Broadway in the original cast. Dolly was also played by Pearl Bailey from whom we will hear today at the end of the program doing a Christmas song. Louis Armstrong’s manager suggested he do a version of the song and the producers loved it. It reached number one on the Billboard 100 ending a significant run for the Beatles.
